In order to keep up with population growth, Downtown should be one of the most dense residential areas of San Marcos. Multi-family and mixed-use housing types are the primary products recommended in and near Downtown, and should be marketed to all demographics (not just or primarily to students). Around the outer western edges of Downtown, diverse housing types should be supported to transition/buffer Downtown from existing neighborhoods while also providing housing options to those who desire to live downtown. Diverse housing types include accessory dwelling units (ADUs), multiplexes, and townhomes. RECOMMENDED HOUSING TYPES (Recommendation A.4, A.5)
Examples of Diverse Housing Types:
Townhomes
Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU)
